The Giving Fish

NEW!  Expertly crafted from cherry, maple, walnut, padauk, bubinga, mahogany and other fine woods by Trent DeJong. Look for the artist's initials with the month and year the fish was created, for example "T.D. 3-10" on the inside curve.. Shown below in cherry and bird's-eye maple. . The size is approximately 5 inches long, 2 inches high and 3/4 inch thick... just right for someone to hold in the palm of their hand. It is smooth to the touch, shines to the eye and is strong enough to squeeze hard. A card is attached. The message on the card is shown below. The fish will stand by itself on a shelf, desk, or table.

Fish and Prayers are a gift of Christian love. Giving is better than receiving. When you give this as a gift of Christian community it will remain a symbol of your love and prayers for years...it will continue to be a blessing, and a reminder for years and years.

Each fish is a work of art. Each is crafted like fine furniture, each one is individually polished and is precious like fine jewelry. They are cheering like fresh flowers. Flowers are wonderful but your gift will last and last and last.   It is suitable for framing and/or display; but it just seems better in the hands of someone who could use the reassurance of the Christian Community and a reminder of the love of Jesus Christ. Each fish is made prayerfully, and somehow for some people it seems easier to pray when holding on to the fish. It has no power of its own, but the love and prayers of the Christian Community (that's you, right?) do have power because God listens, and God loves, the fish is the symbol of God's love through Jesus and through God's people.

Fish and PrayersTM

The Greek word for FISH is

I C T Y S

(pronounced  ick-thus)

It is also an acrostic in Greek for:

 I    Jesus

C    Christ

T    God’s

Y    Son

S   Savior

In the early days of the Roman Empire Christians could be persecuted for talking about God.  But a clever sign was devised. One Christian would casually draw an arc in the sand when he met an unknown traveler. If the traveler was a Christian, he, too would draw an arc to complete the shape of the fish. Then they knew they were in Christian community. And, so are you!

Hold the fish in your hand and be reminded of the love and the prayers  for you. Know that Christ loves you through God's people; for that we can give thanks to God whatever the circumstances.  And please pray for others who have a fish. They need reassurance, too. Some are holding on for dear life. Keep the prayers going. Pass it on.

Please note: Wood is a natural product, therefore the grain and color will vary considerably from one fish to the next and will vary from the photo. Each fish is unique and beautiful in its own way... just like people. We strive to produce interesting looking fish with lots of  'personality' in grain, figure and colors.
